On July 3, 2007, Taylor Woodrow plc and George Wimpey plc merged to form Taylor
Wimpey plc, a merger that brings together nearly 200 years of homebuilding expertise.
Taylor Wimpey plc is a dedicated homebuilding company with operations in the United
Kingdom, North America, Spain and Gibraltar. We aim to be the homebuilder of choice
for our customers, our employees, our shareholders and for the communities in which
we operate.
Taylor Wimpey’s predecessor companies have been responsible for some of the world’s
largest and most unique developments, including such projects as hydro-electric
dams in Canada, the John Wayne Orange County airport in California, the British
Embassy in Moscow, Main Street USA at Disneyland-Paris, and the undersea engineering
marvel known as “The Chunnel,” connecting Great Britain and France. The company’s
home building roots date back to 1921.
Monarch has built low-rise homes for more than 70 years, and in response to changing market
demographics entered the condominium business in 1993. The settings for our signature
low-rise residential communities include golf courses, conservation areas as well
as centrally located communities in the heart of the city and close to amenities.
Monarch’s home designs include wide open living spaces, California archways, gourmet
kitchens and all of the features and finishes you would expect.
Since it was launched, the high-rise division has sold more than 7,000 suites –
a level of success achieved through visionary thinking in choosing sought-after
locations, designing award-winning floor plans accompanied by topnotch service to
condominium purchasers. Presently, the Company offers condominiums in Toronto’s
most sought-after locations.
Monarch takes environmental issues such as energy and water conservation and air
quality seriously. As a member of the Canada Green Building Council, we are committed
to developing a greener lifestyle in its homes and condominiums and have taken the
lead by incorporating numerous environmental initiatives that provide owners with
greener, more energy-efficient surroundings.
Monarch has been a member of OTHBA since 1956, and is been committed to helping
this industry flourish. Monarch’s association involvement includes three GTHBA past-presidents
and in 2006-07 Monarch President Brian Johnston served as President of the Ontario
Home Builders Association.
